Family Trade Since 1962
My family has been in the garage door business for more than sixty years.
Grandpa Truman was a general contractor. He used to build houses and apartment buildings. My dad told me that grandpa came home one day and said, “I’m going to start a garage door company.” My dad said that his first thought was “Oh no, we’re gonna starve!”
My grandma Fern used to answer the business line, but she wasn’t the best receptionist. She was kinda short and snappy with callers. She would answer the phone and say, “DOORS!”
Three Generation of Quality Service
First it was Truman Davidson Garage Doors. Then when my dad and his brother Rayford started working with grandpa they changed it to Davidson & Sons Garage Doors. Then when my dad went out on his own he was Ken Davidson Garage Doors.
Then when I started my own business it was Davidson Garage Doors. At some point I decided to stop selling new doors and just focus on repair so, in the family tradition, I changed my business name to Brant Davidson Garage Door Repair, and here I am.
Grandpa used to build beautiful wood garage doors in a shop, that was inside a big barn on their farm in Windsor CA. When I was a kid, I used to play around the barn and there were garage door parts, hinges & brackets everywhere.
This is my dad. He taught me how to do garage doors. I worked for him for 10 years installing new doors and openers. 10-15 doors a week x 10 years = a lot of doors.

I used to carry my dads tool boxes into the garage, that was my job. Then I would explore the partially built houses on the construction sites while he was installing the doors.
When I told my grandpa that I was starting my own business he said, “Well, just . . . be honest” That’s all he said.
